RDP/VAE(Redispersible Polymer Powder/Redispersible Powder)
RDP (Redispersible Polymer Powder/Redispersible Powder) or VAE is a water-soluble re-dispersible powder. It is a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. It dissolves in water easily and forms emulsion quickly, RDP could offer strong adhesive and stretching force to improve the workability, flexibility and  water-proofing of the materials. Redispersible Polymer Powder is a kind of free-flowing white powder,which is spray-dryed by polymer emulsion and after subsequent treatment to keep the stability of powder appearance and character. The mainly application is in construction dry-mixed mortar,and have excellent performance in increasing the dry mortar cohesion,adhesion and flexibility.
The redispersible polymer powder(VAE) is a water-soluble re-dispersible powder. It is a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. It uses polyvinyl alcohol as a protective colloid. By adding re-dispersible latex powder, the performance of mortar with cement or gypsum as the substrate can meet the needs of various constructions.
The role of Redispersible Polymer Powder RDP in mortar
Redispersible emulsion powder is mainly used in internal and external wall putty powder, tile binder, tile joint agent, dry powder interface agent, external wall insulation mortar, self-leveling mortar, repair mortar, decorative mortar, waterproof mortar external insulation dry mix mortar. The purpose of the mortar is to improve the weaknesses of traditional cement mortar such as brittleness and high elastic modulus, and to provide cement mortar with better flexibility and tensile bond strength to resist and delay the formation of cracks in cement mortar. Due to the interpenetrating network structure between polymer and mortar, a continuous polymer film is formed in the pores to strengthen the bond between aggregates. Some of the pores in the mortar are blocked, so the performance of the modified mortar after hardening is greatly improved than that of the cement mortar.

Applications and dosage
HEARST-503M is recommended to use in dry mixing mortar or powder construction material products, such as ceramic tile adhesive, tile grout, external wall insulation system (EIFS/ETICS), extrusion mortar for EPS component, waterproofing mortar, self-leveling mortar, repair mortar, decorative mortar, skim coat, fire-resistant mortar, sound insulation mortar, Joint compound, AAC adhesive, gypsum products, etc.
Normally recommended dosage is 0.5~5% in total formulation.

- In EIFS/ETICS formulation, is recommended to add 2~4% dosage of HEARST-503M, which can effectively improve the bonding strength, impact resistance and reduce water absorption.
- In skim coat formulation, is recommended to add 1~5% dosage of HEARST-503M, which can significantly reduce water absorption, improve the flexibility and bonding strength with the substrate.

Product properties of dispersible emulsion powder
─ Improve the bending strength and flexural strength of mortar
The polymer film formed by dispersible emulsion powder has good flexibility. The film is formed on the gap and surface of cement mortar particles to form a flexible connection. Heavy and brittle cement mortar becomes elastic. Mortar with redispersible emulsion powder has several times higher tensile resistance than ordinary mortar.
─ Improve the bonding strength and cohesion of mortar
As an organic binder, the dispersible emulsion powder can form a film with high tensile strength and bonding strength on different substrates. It plays a very important role in the adhesion between mortar and organic materials (EPS/ extruded plastic foam board) and smooth surface substrate. The film-forming polymer rubber powder is distributed in the whole mortar system as a reinforcing material to increase the cohesion of the mortar.
