RDP/VAE(Redispersible Polymer Powder/Redispersible Powder)
RDP (Redispersible Polymer Powder/Redispersible Powder) or VAE is a water-soluble re-dispersible powder. It is a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. It dissolves in water easily and forms emulsion quickly, RDP could offer strong adhesive and stretching force to improve the workability, flexibility and  water-proofing of the materials. Redispersible Polymer Powder is a kind of free-flowing white powder,which is spray-dryed by polymer emulsion and after subsequent treatment to keep the stability of powder appearance and character. The mainly application is in construction dry-mixed mortar,and have excellent performance in increasing the dry mortar cohesion,adhesion and flexibility.
The redispersible polymer powder(VAE/Vinyl Acetate Ethylene Copolymer) is a water-soluble re-dispersible powder. It is a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. It uses polyvinyl alcohol as a protective colloid. By adding re-dispersible latex powder, the performance of mortar with cement or gypsum as the substrate can meet the needs of various constructions.
RDP/Redispersible Polymer Powder is a commonly used organic cementation material, which is obtained by spray drying polymer emulsion such as polyvinyl alcohol to protect colloids, and this powder can be re-evenly dispersed in water after water to form emulsion. The addition of redispersible emulsion powder can improve the water retention performance of the newly mixed cement mortar, as well as the bonding property, flexibility, impermeability and corrosion resistance of the hardened cement mortar.
At present, the main applications of dispersible emulsion powder in the market are: Vinyl acetate and ethylene copolymer (VAC/E), vinyl vinyl chloride and vinyl laurate ternary copolymer (E/VC/VL), vinyl acetate and ethylene and higher fatty acid vinyl ester ternary copolymer (VAC/E/Veo Va), vinyl acetate homopolymer (PV) AC), styrene and butadiene copolymerization rubber powder (SBR), other binary and ternary copolymerization rubber powder, other formula rubber powder with functional additives, other formula rubber powder with functional additives and more than one kind of rubber powder, etc.

Applications and dosage
HEARST-503M is recommended to use in dry mixing mortar or powder construction material products, such as ceramic tile adhesive, tile grout, external wall insulation system (EIFS/ETICS), extrusion mortar for EPS component, waterproofing mortar, self-leveling mortar, repair mortar, decorative mortar, skim coat, fire-resistant mortar, sound insulation mortar, Joint compound, AAC adhesive, gypsum products, etc.
Normally recommended dosage is 0.5~5% in total formulation.

- In EIFS/ETICS formulation, is recommended to add 2~4% dosage of HEARST-503M, which can effectively improve the bonding strength, impact resistance and reduce water absorption.
- In skim coat formulation, is recommended to add 1~5% dosage of HEARST-503M, which can significantly reduce water absorption, improve the flexibility and bonding strength with the substrate.

Redispersible polymer powder(RDP/VAE) can be redispersed into emulsions quickly after contact with water. Due to their high binding ability and unique properties. Such as water resistance, workability and heat insulation. they are range of applications that is extremely wide.
The polymer film in polymer modified mortar has a very important effect on hardening mortar. RDP/Redispersible Polymer Powder(Redispersible Polymer Emulsion Powder) distributed at the interface play another key role by dispersing and forming films, that is, increasing the adhesion to the contact material. In the microstructure of the interface between the bonded mortar and the ceramic tile, the film formed by the polymer formed a bridge between the vitrified tile with very low water absorption and the cement mortar matrix. The contact zone between two different materials is a special high-risk area for the formation of shrinkage cracks and resulting in loss of bonding force. Therefore, the ability of the latex film to heal the shrinkage cracks plays an important role in the tile adhesive.
At the same time, the redispersible emulsion powder containing ethylene has more outstanding bonding force on the organic base, especially on similar materials such as polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, etc. This is a good example when the polymer modified dry powder mortar is used for bonding and coating of polystyrene board.
