RDP/VAE(Redispersible Polymer Powder/Redispersible Powder)
RDP (Redispersible Polymer Powder/Redispersible Powder) or VAE is a water-soluble re-dispersible powder. It is a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. It dissolves in water easily and forms emulsion quickly, RDP could offer strong adhesive and stretching force to improve the workability, flexibility and  water-proofing of the materials. Redispersible Polymer Powder is a kind of free-flowing white powder,which is spray-dryed by polymer emulsion and after subsequent treatment to keep the stability of powder appearance and character. The mainly application is in construction dry-mixed mortar,and have excellent performance in increasing the dry mortar cohesion,adhesion and flexibility.
The redispersible polymer powder(VAE) is a water-soluble re-dispersible powder. It is a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. It uses polyvinyl alcohol as a protective colloid. By adding re-dispersible latex powder, the performance of mortar with cement or gypsum as the substrate can meet the needs of various constructions.
Product application of redispersible emulsion powder

Applications and dosage
HEARST-503M is recommended to use in dry mixing mortar or powder construction material products, such as ceramic tile adhesive, tile grout, external wall insulation system (EIFS/ETICS), extrusion mortar for EPS component, waterproofing mortar, self-leveling mortar, repair mortar, decorative mortar, skim coat, fire-resistant mortar, sound insulation mortar, Joint compound, AAC adhesive, gypsum products, etc.
Normally recommended dosage is 0.5~5% in total formulation.

- In EIFS/ETICS formulation, is recommended to add 2~4% dosage of HEARST-503M, which can effectively improve the bonding strength, impact resistance and reduce water absorption.
- In skim coat formulation, is recommended to add 1~5% dosage of HEARST-503M, which can significantly reduce water absorption, improve the flexibility and bonding strength with the substrate.

Redispersible polymer powder(RDP/VAE) can be redispersed into emulsions quickly after contact with water. Due to their high binding ability and unique properties. Such as water resistance, workability and heat insulation. they are range of applications that is extremely wide.
The role of redispersible emulsion powder in mortar
The redispersible emulsion powder can change the consistency and smoothness of the system under wet mixing, and the addition of latex powder can improve the cohesion, provide the adhesion of smooth and dense surface layer after drying, improve the interface action of sand, stone and porosity. Under the condition of ensuring the addition amount, the interface is rich in integrated film, which makes the tile glue flexible, reduces the elastic modulus, and absorbs the thermal deformation stress to a large extent. Later encounter water and waterproof, buffer temperature and material deformation is inconsistent. The flexibility and rigidity of rubber powder can generally be determined according to the glass transition temperature, and the glass transition temperature is below 0 degrees, and the flexibility is partial. Which kind of glue powder is needed in mortar is generally determined according to the performance characteristics of the product. Ceramic tile binder should choose adhesive powder with good bonding strength.
Cellulose provides good water retention and workability for the newly mixed mortar, especially for the wetting area has a key role. In order to ensure the smooth progress of hydration reaction, excessive water absorption and surface water evaporation of the substrate can be prevented. Due to its gas inductance, the bulk weight of the ceramic tile glue is reduced, the material is saved and the elastic modulus of the hardened mortar is reduced.
Cement has high compressive strength, elastic modulus and water resistance, but as the middle layer of the covering material, whether its bond strength can play a role depends largely on the porosity of the substrate and the covering material, because the cement mortar penetrates into the void before the initial setting and coagulates, playing a similar anchoring role of a key inserted into a keyhole, and the high elastic modulus cannot eliminate the gap between the surface layer and the substrate. Due to the inconsistency of deformation caused by shrinkage temperature and so on, internal stress is generated, which can not be released and lead to hollow drum cracking.
