Redispersible VAE powder HST-503M is a product made of vinyl acetate-ethylene (VAE) copolymer emulsion as the main component, via spay drying process into flowable white polymer powder, which can be widely used for dry mixed mortar or powder construction material products.
Product Description
- HST-503M as a VAE polymer powder can be redispersed well into polymer emulsion again after mixing with water.
- HST-503M with the characteristics of middle glass transition temperature, therefore, has a good balance between adhesion and flexibility, and wide universality of application.
- HST-503M can form film with suitable hardness inside and surface of the finished construction material product, which can significantly improve the cohesion, wear resistance, impact resistance and waterproofing ability.
- HST-503M with good acid and alkaline resistance, is good for the workability and weatherability of the construction material products which used it.
- HST-503M with good and wide compatibility, can use with almost all other chemical additives in diverse formulations.
- HST-503M not only retains the superior performances of the original VAE emulsion, such as good film formation, excellent adhesion and durable flexibility, but also improves the convenience and stability for transportation, storage and operation.
- HST-503M is produced without adding plasticizer, film forming additives or solvent, so it has excellent environmental protection, low odor, low VOC.
After drying, the RDP/Redispersible Polymer Powder can form a continuous film (polymer network) which is insoluble in water. This low elastic modulus polymer network can improve the properties of cement. At the same time, some polar groups in polymer molecules react with cement hydration products to form a special bridge bond, improve the physical structure of cement hydration products, alleviate and reduce the generation of cracks. After the addition of redispersible emulsion powder, the initial hydration rate of cement is slowed down, and the polymer film can partially or completely cover the cement particles, so that the cement can be fully hydrated and its properties can be improved.
The RDP/Redispersible Polymer Powder(redispersible emulsion powder) has good redispersibility, redisperses into emulsion when it comes into contact with water, and its chemical properties are almost exactly the same as the initial emulsion. Adding dispersible emulsion powder to cement or gypsum based dry powder premixed mortar can improve many properties of mortar, such as: increasing the bonding force and cohesion of the material; Reduce the water absorption and elastic modulus of the material; Enhance the bending strength, impact resistance, wear resistance and durability of the material; Improve the construction performance of materials.

HST-503M is recommended to use in dry mixing mortar or powder construction material products, such as ceramic tile adhesive, tile grout, external wall insulation system (EIFS/ETICS), extrusion mortar for EPS component, waterproofing mortar, self-leveling mortar, repair mortar, decorative mortar, skim coat, fire-resistant mortar, sound insulation mortar, Joint compound, AAC adhesive, gypsum products, etc.
Normally recommended dosage is 0.5~5% in total formulation.
- In EIFS/ETICS formulation, is recommended to add 2~4% dosage of HST-503M, which can effectively improve the bonding strength, impact resistance and reduce water absorption.
- In skim coat formulation, is recommended to add 1~5% dosage of HST-503M, which can significantly reduce water absorption, improve the flexibility and bonding strength with the substrate.

Storage
- HST-503M storage should protect from moisture.
- At storage temperatures above 30ºC or under pressure during storage may cause HST-503M caking occurs.
- If HST-503M is not used up after opening, it should be sealed in time and used as soon as possible.
- The optimal service life of HST-503M is 6 montXDD, and the possibility of the product performances beyond the best use period will be reduced.
- In order to ensure the best use effect of HST-503M, it is recommended to test the product's performances before use.
